BayBears Split Doubleheader against Barons

MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, split a doubleheader against the Birmingham Barons Sunday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium, winning the first game 10-2 and falling in the second game 7-4.
GAME ONE:
The BayBears plated runs in four consecutive innings to surge to an eight-run victory in the series opener. Mobile tallied a season-high 10 runs in the game.
Jo Adell went 3-for-4 in the game with two RBIs, three runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases. Adell got the scoring started with a two-run double in the third. Brendon Sanger hit his team-high seventh home run of the season, a three-run shot in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Jeremy Beasley (3-3) pitched a career-high 6 1/3 innings. He allowed just two runs, despite allowing a career-high 11 hits. Birmingham left eight runners on base and went just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
GAME TWO:
Adell hit his third home run of the season and first with Mobile (23-37) to give the BayBears a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth. However, Birmingham (25-37) stormed back with a four-run fifth inning.
Luis Robert hit his fourth home run of the season, a leadoff shot to left field in the first. Both teams scored a pair of runs in the opening frame.
Kodi Medeiros (1-8) earned his first win of the season coming out of the bullpen for the first time. Isaac Mattson (0-1) allowed all four Barons runs in the fifth and took the loss.
The BayBears continue the five-game home series against Birmingham Monday at 6:35 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Luis Madero (3-3, 3.50 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against southpaw Matt Tomshaw (2-1, 1.17 ERA) for the Barons.
