Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jumbo Shrimp starter Cody Poteet fired eight innings of one-run ball on Sunday, but a ninth-inning Kevin Padlo home run lifted the Montgomery Biscuits to a 3-1 victory over Jacksonville at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
The score was tied at one in the ninth when Jesus Sanchez doubled off Jacksonville (24-39) reliever Brett Graves (1-3). After a strikeout, Padlo bashed a two-run shot to give Montgomery (38-24) a 3-1 lead. Ryan Thompson (1-0) followed with a scoreless bottom of the ninth to seal the triumph for the Biscuits.
Poteet needed just 84 pitches to get through his eight frames, yielding just one run on three hits with four strikeouts against two walks. Montgomery starter Sam McWilliams fired seven scoreless innings to counter the Jacksonville right-hander.
In the fourth inning, Miles Mastrobuoni doubled before scoring on a wild pitch for the game's first run.
The contest remained 1-0 until the eighth. B.J. Lopez and Corey Bird each singled to begin the frame. A ground out coupled with a Biscuits error plated Lopez to even the score at 1-1.
Sunday's winning raffle number of 1507422039 won a prize of $83.
