BayBears Shut out by Shrimp on Independence Day

MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, were shut out 6-0 by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in front of 5,143 fans on Independence Day at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Brandon Marsh went 1-for-3 in his return from the injured list. However, the BayBears (33-50 overall, 6-9 second half) were held to just three hits one night after shutting out Biloxi.

Edward Cabrera (2-0) earned the win with his second straight quality start. He allowed just two hits and struck out seven batters in six innings pitched.

Jacksonville (38-47, 9-6) plated four runs in the first four innings against Zack Kelly (1-4) and added two more in the eighth. Five players had multiple hits including Justin Twine, who went 3-for-5. Corey Bird contributed with his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth.

The BayBears continue the six-game home series against Jacksonville Friday at 7:05 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Andrew Wantz (0-1, 4.19 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Josh Roeder (1-2, 4.08 ERA) for the Jumbo Shrimp.
