MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears (33-21) scored two runs in the first, second and third giving the Generals (22-32) their eighth consecutive series loss with an 8-2 setback on Friday at Hank Aaron Stadium. Despit the loss, eight of the nine batters in the Generals order had a hit in the game, but ultimately the team was just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position in the loss. The Generals finished their longest road trip of the season 4-6, dropping three of five in Jacksonville and Mobile.

Starter Cam Hobson (4-4, 3.61) struggled in his 11th start of the season and was not able to get out of the second inning. The second man he faced, Gerson Montilla, hit a home run to left field and the BayBears were off and running. Mobile added another run on a Raywilly Gomez sacrifice fly and the score was 2-0 after an inning.

The Generals shrunk the lead to 2-1 as Mickey Wiswall (1x4, R) scored on Kevin Rivers's (1x4, RBI) single in the second inning. But the BayBears extended their lead with two more runs in the bottom half. Two bases loaded walks made it 4-1 Mobile after two innings.

Ketel Marte (1x3, RBI) came up with a sacrifice fly in the third that scored Leon Landry (2x5, R) and cut the lead to 4-2. However, Mark Thomas followed with a two-run homer and Mobile scored two runs in each of the first three innings to lead 6-2.

Montilla doubled with one out in the sixth. He came around to score on Dustin Martin's single and the lead blossomed to 7-2.

The BayBears added one more run an inning later when Montilla tripled to score Sean Jamieson for the winning margin of 8-2.

Mobile received a solide start from Justin Fitzgerald (4-0, 3.86) who gave up just two runs on six hits in 5.1 innings of work, striking out a season-high nine batters. R.J. Hively, Kaleb Fleck and Jimmie Sherfy combined to pitch a scoreless 3.2 innings out of the bullpen to preserve the BayBears win.

Hobson fell to .500 with the loss at 4-4 on the year. In his 1.2 innings, he walked a season-high five to go along with giving up four runs (two earned) on two hits.

Landry was the only General with a multi-hit game as he picked up two singles. Wiswall extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a single in the sixth inning while Patrick Kivlehan (1x4) extended his streak to nine games.

The Generals will travel home to begin a five-game set with the red-hot Huntsville Stars on Saturday. Jackson's starter has yet to be determined but Huntsville will send Tyler Cravy (7-1, 1.79) to the bump to attempt to extend the team's 6-game winning streak. The game will be at 6:05 pm and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN, TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
