Mobile BayBears News Release

MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, erased an early two-run deficit but were edged by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 6-5 in the series finale Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Jared Walsh went 3-for-4 with RBI doubles in the fourth and fifth innings to help the BayBears (46-37 overall, 9-6 second half) grab a 5-2 advantage over the Jumbo Shrimp (32-52, 4-12). However, despite climbing out of the 2-0 hole, Mobile let its three-run lead slip away in the seventh.

Former BayBear Peter O'Brien hit a two-run homer off Samil De Los Santos to make the score 5-4. Later in the frame, Zac Ryan (0-1) gave up a game-tying RBI double to Sharif Othman. Brian Schales scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.

The BayBears had a baserunner in each of the last three innings, including a runner in scoring position in the ninth. However, Nick Neidert (8-5) lasted eight innings and recorded eight strikeouts, and Dylan Lee fanned the last two batters of the game to keep Mobile off the board.

Sean Isaac was the lone bright spot out of the bullpen for the BayBears, retiring all seven batters he faced with four strikeouts.

The BayBears begin a four-game road series against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Sunday at 5:05 p.m. CDT. Live coverage can be seen on MiLB.tv (Pensacola feed, subscription required, promo code: BAYBEARS) and heard on the BayBears Broadcast Network, the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App, with the Countdown to First Pitch starting at 4:45 p.m. CDT.
