Mobile BayBears News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Mobile BayBears feel for the second straight day to the Biloxi Shuckers, dropping the series finale 4-3 at Joe Davis Stadium on Monday afternoon. Mobile led early and got a great outing from starting RHP Yoan Lopez but Biloxi battled back for the win and now moves ahead of Mobile by half a game for first place in the Southern League South Division Standings.

Lopez took the hill and shutout Shuckers (16-9) hitters, allowing just one hit in five innings on the mound. The BayBears (15-9) gave the righty an early lead when Tom Belza extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single in the top of the first then scored on a RBI single from Brandon Drury. Mobile added another run in the top of the fifth inning when Sean Jamieson scored with an RBI single from Rudy Flores to give Mobile a 2-0 advantage.

The lead failed to hold long as the Shuckers tied the game with back-to0back RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth inning. After Mobile then took a brief 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning, Biloxi again came back to tie the game and take the lead with two runs in the eighth inning.

With Monday's loss, Mobile falls to just half a game back of Biloxi for first place in the Southern League South Division Standings.

The BayBears return to Mobile to open up their next homestand against the Jacksonville Suns starting Tuesday, May 5 at Hank Aaron Stadium.
