Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

MOBILE, Ala. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (10-22) fell to the Mobile BayBears (14-17) by a 2-0 score in the second game of the five-game series at Hank Aaron Stadium on Tuesday night.

Mobile right-handed starting pitcher Jason Alexander (1-0) earned the win with eight scoreless innings of work, allowing just one hit with no walks and nine strikeouts, facing just one batter over the minimum in his time on the mound. Jacksonville left-handed starting pitcher McKenzie Mills (1-5) took the loss, working five-plus innings where he allowed two runs (both earned) on four hits with four walks and no strikeouts. Mobile right-handed relief pitcher Kaleb Cowart worked the ninth in scoreless fashion to collect his first save.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth, when Jahmai Jones belted a two-run homer to left field to give the BayBears a 2-0 lead, which would be the final. Jacksonville got two men on base in the ninth inning against Cowart but Justin Twine struck out swinging to end the game in a BayBears victory.

Tyler Stevens and Jordan Milbrath worked the final three innings out of Jacksonville's bullpen in scoreless fashion.

The Jumbo Shrimp have now lost their last eight games, and are 0-7 on this road trip to Mississippi and Mobile. This matches Jacksonville's longest losing streak of the season, when the club dropped eight straight from April 16-23.

The Jumbo Shrimp and BayBears will continue the series with the third game of the five-game set at Hank Aaron Stadium on Wednesday night at 7:35 p.m. eastern. Right-handed pitcher Robert Dugger (1-5, 4.88 ERA) will start for Jacksonville against Mobile right-handed pitcher Matt Ball (1-1, 2.74 ERA). Fans can listen to the game on the Jumbo Shrimp Network presented by Community First, beginning at 7:20 p.m. eastern with the pregame show "Shrimp On Deck" locally on Sunny 102.3 FM, on the TuneIn Radio app, and www.jaxshrimp.com.
