Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release
The Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings will begin their quest for an ArenaCup Championship this Saturday at 4:00 PM when players report to training camp at Independence Stadium in Shreveport. The BattleWings claimed their first ever Southwest Division Championship last season and advanced to the second round of the playoffs after finishing the 2008 regular season with a 9-7 record.
Head coach Jon Norris, entering his third season with the BattleWings, will have a talented group to work with that includes 2008 holdovers WR Chavis McCollister, FB Jason Schule, WR Manwell Talbert, WR/DB Dustin Johnson, and OL Greg Hodges. "There will be many familiar faces and some new players, both rookies and established af2 vets" said Coach Norris. Among the new players on the 2009 squad are OL Lou Vega, QB Andrico Hines, WR Buchie Ibeh, FB/LB Melvin Parris, DL/OL Moqut Ruffins, CB Pierre Lee, DL Joe Woolridge, and 2008 All-af2 1st Teamers WR P.J. Berry, and CB Roland Cola.
"I'm looking forward to get training camp started and I'm very excited about the new talent we are bringing in. This is going to be an incredibly competitive training camp. With the amount of talent we have coming, it is very important to have a structured training camp" continued Norris.
The BattleWings begin their 2009 season on the road as they visit Southwest Division rival Arkansas Twisters on March 28th. The BattleWings will host the Corpus Christi Sharks the following week on April 4th at the CenturyTel Center.
Season tickets start as low as $39 and individual tickets start at just $7. Group outings and birthday parties are welcome. For more information, call the BattleWings' Office at 318-746-8755 or visit us at www.battlewings.com.
