Battle of Nova Scotia to Support Feed NS and Salvation Army
December 22, 2015 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Cape Breton Eagles News Release
Sydney - The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and the Halifax Mooseheads annual "Battle of Nova Scotia" home and home series is set to take place next week. The Screaming Eagles host the first game at Centre 200 on Tuesday, December 29th at 7pm, while game two is set for 6pm on New Years Eve at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax. Both teams will wear custom Nova Scotia themed jerseys.
Once again this year, the Screaming Eagles jerseys have been provided by Molson and fans looking to win one of the 20 game worn jerseys can receive a ballot by bringing a non-perishable food donation or an item of gently used winter clothing. All food donations will be collected by Feed Nova Scotia and will be distributed to food banks all across Cape Breton Island, and all gently used winter clothing will be donated to the local Salvation Army.
"There is a big need in our community for warm winter clothing so we decided to add an option for fans to donate warm clothing for their chance to win one of the jerseys," said Chris Tournidis, Screaming Eagles Marketing Manager. "We will also be accepting food donations again this year."
Fans will receive a jersey ballot for each bag of food and clothing item donated. Feed Nova Scotia along with Salvation Army volunteers will be on hand on the night of the game, accepting all donations and issuing ballots at each entrance of Centre 200.
The Screaming Eagles will look to take the lead in the season series with their provincial rivals, with both teams each recording two wins in the first four of nine meetings this season.
Tickets for the game are available online at tickets.capebreton.ca or by visiting the Centre 200 Box Office. The box office is open weekdays 11am-6pm, but will close Christmas Eve at 2pm.
