Battle Creek Bombers Add a Pair from Portland

BATTLE CREEK, MI - The Bombers announced today the signing of two players from the University of Portland, sophomore Jordan Horak and junior Cooper Hummel. The two Pilots are the latest additions to the 2016 roster.

Cooper Hummel: 5'10", 180 lb, C, Junior, (Bats:S/Throws:R), Lake Oswego, Ore.

Hummel is also a native of Lake Oswego and attended Lakeridge High School. He was a three-year letterwinner and was a First-Team All-League Selection. As a senior, Cooper tallied three home runs, eight doubles, and three triples with 28 RBI's and a .576 batting average. In 2013 he was named to Oregon's 6A All-State Team and given the Three Rivers League Player of the Year Award.

In 28 appearances as a sophomore at Portland, Cooper had 14 hits, four doubles, one home run, and four RBI's. He posted a perfect 1.00 fielding percentage through 19 appearances his freshman season.

Jordan Horak: 6'2", 220 lb, LHP, Sophomore, (Bats:R/Throws:L), Lake Oswego, Ore.

Horak is from Lake Oswego, Oregon and attended Lake Oswego High School, where he was a four-year letterwinner. As a junior he went 10-2 on the mound and posted an ERA of 0.80. In 2013 he earned First Team All-Three Rivers League as both a pitcher and an outfielder. Horak was also selected to play in the Oregon Nike Baseball Series and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the 2012 Senior NW Baseball Championships.

During his freshman campaign in 2015, Jordan pitched 7.0 innings and struck out five in his 10 appearances. The left-hander had three straight scoreless appearances out of the bullpen.
