July 14, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Charleston Battery News Release
CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Battery continue their road trip this week with a stop in South Florida to take on Miami FC on Sat., July 15. Kickoff at FIU Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET.
Charleston and Miami square off for the first time this season. In the all-time series between the clubs, Miami lead with a 5W-3L-2D record. The Battery will be fighting for their first victory at FIU Stadium as all three wins in the series for Charleston have come at Patriots Point.
The Battery (9W-5L-5D, 32 pts) enter Saturday's duel after drawing 1-1 on the road against Indy Eleven. Tristan Trager scored an equalizer in the second half to salvage a point for Charleston in a game that saw them largely outplay Indy in the 90 minutes. Emilio Ycaza recorded his first assist of the season on Trager's goal.
Miami (3W-9L-7D, 16pts) return to South Florida after falling 1-0 on the road to FC Tulsa. After the game was scoreless for over an hour of action, Tulsa's Marcus Epps scored the winner in the 77th minute to lift Tulsa past the visitors.
Tristan Trager is a player to watch for the Battery. Trager came off the bench and made an immediate impact against Indy. In addition to the equalizer, he tallied three successful dribbles and seven duels won in just 20 minutes of play.
Claudio Repetto is one to keep an eye on for Miami. The former Battery striker will go up against his old club for the first time on Saturday and he's tallied four goals and two assists across all competitions this year.
Never count out the Battery. Charleston are tied for the league lead in points gained from a losing position (10, with FC Tulsa).
The Battery received a boost to their squad with the addition of versatile midfielder Pierre Reedy, who signed earlier this week and will be available for Miami's match.
Robbie Crawford is advancing toward 75 all-time club appearances for the Battery, having featured in 73 for the Black and Yellow across all competitions.
Trey Muse is approaching the 300 saves in the USL Championship regular season. The 23-year-old sits at 289 saves following the Indy match.
Deklan Wynne is nearing 100 career matches played in the USL Championship regular season, he currently has 98 to his name.
