Battery to attempt Guinness World Record on Friday

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery & Groucho's Deli will attempt to set an official Guinness World Record this Friday night, April 29 during the first half of the game versus the Virginia Beach Mariners at Blackbaud Stadium. The record attempt will be for the most people wearing Groucho Marx Glasses in one location. The first 2500 fans through the turnstiles will receive a FREE pair of Groucho glasses which they will be asked to wear for the final fifteen minutes of the first half.

The current record for the most people simultaneously wearing Groucho Marx-style glasses, noses and moustaches at one location is 937 students and staff from East Lansing High School, Michigan, USA, on May 23, 2003. Guinness World Records has approved the Charleston Battery's attempt.

Groucho, along with his brothers Chico, Harpo, Zeppo, and Gummo, formed a famous comedic team known as the Marx Brothers. Groucho died in 1977 aged 87.
