
Rhinos To Battle MetroStars

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Raging Rhinos have announced that the team will host the MetroStars (MLS) in a 7:35 p.m. friendly match on Monday, June 27th at Frontier Field.
The MetroStars feature many of the games brightest young stars and a few familiar names to area soccer fans. 2004 MLS Most Valuable Player Amado Guevara returns for his third season with the "black and red". Last season, Guevara tied for the MLS points lead with 30 (10+10). Rising U.S. soccer star Eddie Gaven, also in his third season in MLS, was the youngest player in league history to sign a contract (16 years, two months) two seasons ago. The MetroStars also feature U.S. National Team defender Jeff Agoos.
The MetroStars roster also includes former Raging Rhinos defender Carlos Mendes and forward John Wolyniec. Mendes played two seasons (2003-2004) with Rochester, appearing in 37 games and scoring one goal (1+0=1). Last season, Mendes appeared in 17 games with Rochester. Wolyniec was a member of the 2001 squad, when he appeared in 15 games, collecting three points (1+1).
"It's always a treat for Rhinos fans when a great MLS squad such as the MetroStars can match up against our team," Rhinos Vice President and General Manager Chris Economides said. "It will also be great to see Carlos (Mendes) and John (Wolyniec) back in Rochester."
Season ticket holders will use the "Game 16" ticket in their season booklet. Individual tickets are now available for $12.00, $15.00, $16.00, $17.00 and $20.00. To purchase game tickets, stop by the Frontier Field box office or online at Rhinossoccer.com. Season ticket holders can continue to pick up their season tickets from the Rhinos office through May 6th.
The Rhinos will open their 2005 regular season schedule on Saturday, April 30th on the road against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Rochester opens the home portion of its 2005 schedule on Saturday, May 7th at 7:35 p.m. Season ticket start as low as $90.00 per seat.
