Bats Lose 8-6 in Extra Innings

LOUISVILLE,Ky.- The Louisville Bats lost to the Columbus Clippers, 8-6 in their second extra inning game in two days. The Clippers had three multi-run innings to take the win on Sunday afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field.

A triple by Bats shortstop Jose Peraza and a double by Jermaine Curtis brought in two runs to put the Bats up 2-0 in the first.

The Bats added two more runs in the second, as a single by Christ Berset put them up 3-0 in the second. Another run was brought in with a single by Scott Schebler to push the Louisville lead to 4-0.

Louisville right-hander Robert Stephenson (3-2, 2.80) went six and one-third innings, giving up three earned runs on five hits, while striking out three and walking two. The Clippers spoiled Stephenson's shutout attempt in the seventh inning, with a solo home run by Yandy Diaz to give the Clippers their first run of the game, making it 4-1 in the seventh. The Clippers brought in two more runs before the inning was over, but Louisville remained ahead 4-3.

The Bats added two more runs in the eighth to give the Bats the 6-3 lead.

Columbus would tie the game in the ninth, scoring three runs to tie the score at 6-6, tagging Louisville reliever Keyvius Sampson for a three-run top of the ninth.

The Clippers took the lead in the tenth with a single by Adam Moore, bringing in Yhoxian Medina to put the Clippers up 7-6. The Clippers' would add one more run in the tenth with an RBI by Erik Gonzalez to eventually win, 8-6.

Louisville will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Scranton Wilkes-Barre for a 6:35 p.m. first pitch. Bats left hander Cody Reed (2-2, 2.08) will be on the mound. The RailRiders will counter with right hander Brady Lail (2-0, 2.87).
