Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Bats secured their fifth home win of the season after defeating the Durham Bulls, 3-0 on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Louisville earned the split after following a 50 minute rain delay in the middle of the sixth inning.
Louisville left-hander Cody Reed (2-0, 1.62) started for the Bats and he pitched seven innings giving up just one hit, a lead-off single in the sixth inning. He allowed one walk and struck out five.
The game went into a rain delay in the bottom of the sixth and lasted 50 minutes before play resumed. In the decisive seventh inning, a single from center fielder Bryson Smith allowed designated hitter Steve Selsky to score the first run of the game. Catcher Chris Berset reached on a fielder's choice that saw right fielder Kyle Waldrop score off a throwing error. The Bats round out the inning with a sacrifice fly from short stop Jose Peraza that earned a third run by Smith.
Right-hander Austin Pruitt (2-1, 2.93) started for the Bulls. He allowed four hits and one walk but kept the game scoreless, ringing up four strikeouts. Right-hander Eddie Gamboa (1-1, 2.37) took over for the Bulls and suffered the loss, surrendering three runs to the Bats that sealed the win.
The Bats will start their series against the Norfolk Tide tomorrow at 7:05 PM with Bats left-hander John Lamb (1-2, 9.22) taking on the Tides right-hander David Hale (0-0, 9.00).
