LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Louisville Bats took the win on Sunday night beating the Indianapolis Indians, 6-3. The Bats had three doubles in the fourth, leading to the win.
Louisville right-hander Dayan Diaz (7-1, 3.05) earned the win, pitching two and thirds innings, allowing two hits and striking out three.
Indianapolis right-hander Justin Masterson (2-2, 4.97) took the loss pitching four innings, allowing six hits, five runs, two walks, one wild pitch, one balk, and striking out three.
In the second, Louisville center fielder Beau Amaral hit a two run double to bring in Jesse Winker and Seth Mejias-Brean to give Louisville an early 2-0 lead.
The Indians scored their first run in the fourth off a wild pitch by Bats starting pitcher right-hander Stephen Johnson to score Jung Ho Kang, but the Bats remained ahead 2-1. In the same inning, Indianapolis tied the game, 2-2 with a sacrifice fly by right fielder Willy Garcia.
Louisville catcher Chris Berset hit an RBI single in the fourth to bring in right-fielder Jesse Winker to put the Bats up 3-2. Amaral and Perez hit a pair of RBI doubles to score two more runs for the Bats to put their lead to 5-2.
The Bats scored another run in the seventh with an RBI single by Berset to extend their lead to 6-2.
Indianapolis pinch hitter Dan Gamache hit an RBI double in the ninth to score Garcia to round out the scoring on the evening, making it 6-3 Bats.
The Bats will wrap up the season tomorrow afternoon against the Indians, and the winner will finish in second place in the International League West Division. Bats right-hander Keury Mella (8-9, 3.90 with Daytona) will make his Triple-A debut on the mound. The Indians will counter with John Kuchno (1-4, 5.63).
