Bats bash Brahmas, 6-1

Austin, Texas--The Austin Ice Bats scored five consecutive goals over the final two periods as they rolled to a 6-1 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas on Friday night at the Travis County Expo Center in Austin, Texas.

The game was tied at one after the first period of play, then the Ice Bats netted three goals in the second period and two goals in the third period to cruise to the easy win.

Ice Bats winger John McNabb scored two goals and assisted on another to pace the Austin attack in the game. Defenseman Jorin Welsh scored the only goal of the game for Fort Worth.

Matt Barnes stopped 29 of the 30 Brahmas shots he faced to get the win in net for Austin. Dan Murphy allowed the six Ice Bats goals on 37 Austin shots and was saddled with the loss for Fort Worth.

The defeat drops the Brahmas record to 20-14-4 on the season. The Brahmas will try to bounce back on, Saturday, January 29, when they travel to Corpus Christi to battle the Rayz. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from the AmericanBank Center in Corpus. Listen to the game live on KTFW 1460 AM beginning at 6:50 p.m.
