
Bucks Blasted 8-0 By Memphis

BOSSIER CITY, Louisiana â The defending CHL Champion Laredo Bucks suffered the worst loss in franchise history as the Memphis RiverKings beat them 8-0 at the DeSoto Civic Center in front of 3,815 fans. The previous worst loss in franchise history also came in Memphis by the score of 7-3 on March 6th, 2003. The RiverKings scored five power play goals in route to the victory. The Bucks are now 18-17-2 with 38 points and remain in third place in the Southeast Division. Laredo is home on Wednesday against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. The RiverKings dominated the early flow of the game. Just 1:20 into the game defenseman Ted Crowley teed up a big slap shot that found the back of the net for a power play goal and a 1-0 Memphis lead. Only 91 seconds later the Kings were at it again. Forward Travis Banga threw the puck out of the left corner and it deflected off a Bucks player and into the net for another power play goal and 2-0 Memphis lead. It took the Bucks 12:02 into the game to register their first shot on goal. The RiverKings were 2-5 on the power play while the Bucks did not receive a chance.
In the second period the RiverKings extended their lead. Memphis captain Don Parsons cut into the Bucks zone, stick handled to the slot and fired in a wrist shot high glove side at 2:59. The goal was Parsons' league leading 36th and extended the Memphis lead to 3-0. Late in the period the Kings again went to work on the power play, this time a major chance. Parsons gobbled up a rebound and deposited it into the net with just 17 seconds left in the period for his second of the night and a 4-0 lead.
In the third period the RiverKings continued to pour it on. Banga scored his second of the game on the power play just 30 seconds in. Parsons then completed the hat trick at 3:22, also on the power play. CHL rookie scoring leader Phil Aucoin scored on a breakaway at 6:50 and defenseman Scott English scored on a slap shot at 8:19 to complete the scoring. FINAL SCORE Memphis 8, Laredo 0.
Memphis goalie David Lemanowicz stopped all 31 shots to pitch the shutout and improve to 8-11-0. Jeremy Symington gave up eight goals on 25 shots in 48:19 of work to take the loss and drop to 11-7-1. David Guerrera finished up in net by stopping both shots he faced. The Bucks were 0-5 on the power play, while Memphis was 5-11. The five power play goals against also set a franchise record for most power play goals allowed in a game. The previous record was three power play goals allowed in a game.
