Bats Back Pitching In Win

Williamsport's offense backed their pitching for the second time in three games, as the Crosscutters blanked the Scrappers 8-0 to take the series.

Lenin Rodriguez finished the night 2 for 2 with a double and two RBI with a double after entering the game in the top of the 5th inning. Ben Aklinski went 2 for 3, while Brayan Gonzalez finished the night 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Matt Kroon scored three times. For the second time in the series, Williamsport collected double-digit hits, collecting 10 tonight.

Kyle Young made a rehab start for the Cutters, working three shutout frames, striking out two while not allowing a run. Manuel Silva went five shutout frames, striking out five as he earned his 2nd win of the season. Blake Bennett worked a scoreless 9th to close it out.

Williamsport outscored Mahoning Valley 20-4 in the three game series, picking up their 5th and 6th shutouts of the season. The Crosscutters finished the season series with the Scrappers 5-10. Williamsport has three home games remaining in 2018.
