Vermont Lake Monsters News Release
BATAVIA, NY --- Alan Ahmady's bases loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Batavia Muckdogs a 4-3 victory over the Vermont Lake Monsters in New York-Penn League action Wednesday night at Dwyer Stadium.
Luis De La Cruz led off the bottom of the ninth with a single off Steven Stewart, moved to second on a walk and then to third on a Michael Swinson sacrifice bunt. After an intentional walk loaded the bases, Ahmady lifted a fly ball to centerfield deep enough to score De La Cruz from third to hand the Lake Monsters their fourth straight loss.
Batavia took an early 3-0 lead with three runs in the bottom of the second inning off Vermont starter Kyle Morrison. Kyle Conley got the inning started with a solo home run and later Swinson smacked a two-run single to right field for the three-run lead.
The Lake Monsters got two runs back in fourth and then were able to tie the game at three with a single run in the eighth. A Justin Bloxom RBI single gave Vermont its first run in the fourth, but with the bases loaded and no outs the Lake Monsters were able to plate just one more run on a one-out RBI groundout from Ronnie LaBrie.
