Chicago Sky News Release

CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky has selected Bartlett High School as the eighth weekly winner of its 2016 "High School Team of the Week" program. They receive the recognition after being nominated for their athletic and academic achievements, as well as their involvement in the community.

The Bartlett Hawks, who are 19-7 on the season, recently won their conference championship. The Hawks were 9-0 in the Upstate Eight conference and clinched the conference title after defeating Glenbard East.

The players' hard work in the classroom is demonstrated in the team's 3.52 overall grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The Hawks positively impact the Bartlett community by working with the Feed My Starving Children organization. Additionally, several players have gone on mission trips and have volunteered in different capacities with their churches. This season, the team hosted a Best Buddies game with South Elgin High School.

As a Chicago Sky "High School Basketball Team of the Week" award winner, the Bartlett Hawks are invited to enjoy a Chicago Sky game, where they will have the opportunity to watch the world's best female basketball players. At halftime of the game, the team will be honored at center court.

All teams that compete in IHSA class 1A, 2A, 3A or 4A competitions are eligible to win a weekly honor. Nominations from parents, coaches, school faculty members and players are welcome and should be completed on the Chicago Sky website (www.chicagosky.net) through February 22.

At the end of the 10-week program, each weekly winning team will be entered to win the "High School Team of the Year" award for 2016. The winner, determined through online voting, will be announced on Opening Night 2016.
