Barret Ehgoetz Back With Cyclones in 2008-09

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2008 Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones, announced this afternoon that they have agreed to terms with center Barret Ehgoetz for the 2008-09 season. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate for the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.

Ehgoetz, 27, finished last season with 18 goals and 44 assists for 62 points in the regular season. He added a goal and eight assists for nine points as Cincinnati won its first-ever Kelly Cup championship. Barret registered 14 multiple point games during 2007-08 and chipped in a career-high four assists in an 8-2 win over Johnstown on December 16. He also contributed a pair of three game goal streaks and tallied a pair of two goal games.

The five-foot-nine, 170 pound native of Kincardine, Ontario, enters his fourth year professional and third with the Cyclones. Ehgoetz has played in 204 pro games and has 50 goals to go with 86 assists for 136 points. His rookie season was spent with Cyclones coach Chuck Weber in Utah, where he played in 64 games for the Grizzlies. A graduate of Niagara University, Barret played four seasons with the Purple Eagles (2002-2005), winning conference player of the year honors as a junior.

"Barret Ehgoetz adds a two-way dynamic to our hockey team," Cyclones Head Coach/Vice President of Hockey Operations Chuck Weber said. "He is very talented offensively and takes even more pride in his defensive game. Over the past two years he has been one of the premier penalty killers in the ECHL."

Tickets for the 2008-09 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 144. The Cyclones open the season at Wheeling on Friday, October 17 and after three road games, host their home opener at U.S. Bank Arena against Dayton on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30pm. There will be a special Kelly Cup championship banner raising ceremony prior to that game.
