Forwards Rooneem, Trull Returning To Mississippi For 2008-09

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Monday that they have signed forwards Mark Rooneem and Chase Trull for the 2008-09 season. Per club policy, terms of the players' contracts were not disclosed.

Rooneem, a native of Grand Cache, Alta., appeared in 60 games with the Sea Wolves during the 2007-08 season, scoring nine goals and 21 assists for 20 points and accruing 94 penalty minutes. In 226 ECHL regular season games with Texas, Pensacola, Louisiana, and Mississippi, Rooneem, who was selected in the 4th round (115th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, has scored 45 goals and 58 assists for 103 points. The 6-2, 195-pound Rooneem has also appeared in nine career AHL games with Houston.

"Mark brings a lot of experience to the locker room and to the left wing," said Sea Wolves head coach Steffon Walby. "We look for his numbers to improve this season and for his leadership to be a key part of our team."

An alumnus of St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., Trull, a 6-3, 210-pound native of Rockwood, Ont., appeared in 67 regular season games with the Sea Wolves last season, scoring five goals and eight assists and amassing 93 penalty minutes. Prior to joining the Sea Wolves, Trull played for Muskegon of the now-defunct United Hockey League in 2006-07, potting seven goals and 12 assists in 76 regular season games. After playing three seasons at St. Lawrence, where he scored six goals and 11 assists in 96 career games with the Skating Saints, Trull began his professional career in the 2005-06 season the Phoenix of the ECHL, scoring a goal and picking up two penalty minutes in seven games.

"Chase is a true professional with a lot of grit and a great work ethic," Walby stated. "He will be used in every role possible this season."
