Barons Score Comeback 3-2 Win in Double-Header Finale

Birmingham, AL - The Barons overcame a 2-0 deficit in the seventh inning of game two of their double-header against the Jacksonville Suns, winning 3-2 to earn a split at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

The Suns took an early 1-0 lead on a second inning RBI single by Wilfredo Gimenez and tacked on a second run twoinnings later on a base hit by Joe Benson. Both runs were scored against spot starter Nick McCully.

Trailing 2-0 entering the seventh inning, the Barons scored three runs to take a 3-2 lead. Christian Marrero led off the inning with a walk and went to second on a base hit by Rangel Ravelo. Michael Earley brought home the first run of the game with some help from the Suns as a fielding error by closer Matt Ramsey (1-3, 0.85) allowed Marrero to score from second and put runners at second and third. A wild pitch by Ramsey scored Ravelo from third and tied the game at 2-2. Jeremy Farrell put the Barons ahead for the first time in the game with a sacrifice fly, scoring Earley from third base just ahead of the throw and tag.

Relievers Bryan Blough (2-1, 3.38) and Nestor Molina (S, 3) combined to hold the Suns scoreless over the final 3.0 innings as the Barons salvaged a double-header split and improved to 17-14 in the second half while Jacksonville fell to 19-13 in the second half.

The Barons will look to earn a series victory tomorrow afternoon as RHP Angel Sanchez (1-9, 6.42) takes the hill against RHP Robert Morey (1-1, 4.56). First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 PM CDT.
