Barons Return To Regions Field for Five Games Against Biscuits

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons return to Regions Field on Sunday, May 12th to begin a five-game homestand against the Montgomery Biscuits, Double-A Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.

The homestand begins Sunday with a Salute To Armed Forces presented by DRASH. The Barons will celebrate Mother's Day with a rose giveaway for the first 1,000 mothers in attendance courtesy Norton's Florist. ABC 33/40 TV personality Brenda Ladun will be on hand promoting her book and running a silent auction with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research. Monday brings the second Business Person Special start time of the season as the Barons and Biscuits play ball in an 11:30 matinee. Monday's are also YP days at Regions Field all season long.

Tuesday is 50-cent Hot Dog night at Regions Field presented by Kayem Foods, MINI of Birmingham and the Birmingham Zoo. Tuesday's game will also feature a special reunion of the 1964 Birmingham A's, the first fully integrated team in Alabama. The event commemorates the release of Larry Colton's "Southern League: A True Story of Baseball, Civil Rights, and the Deep South's Most Compelling Pennant Race'. Members of the '64 team including 'Blue Moon' Odom, Tommie Reynolds, Ron Tompkins, Joe Grzenda, Hoss Bowlin, Paul Seitz, Rich Allen and others will be on hand for a special pre-game ceremony. Gates open at 5:30 PM with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase the book and collect autographs from the players during the game. A portion of the book proceeds will be donated to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.

Wednesday will be a School Day at Regions Field as area children get the chance to attend a matinee starting at 11:00 AM. The homestand concludes with the return of Thirsty Thursday to Regions Field as fans can enjoy 16 oz. beverages for only $2.00. The first 500 fans in attendance Thursday night will receive a replica Regions Field construction hardhat courtesy of Robins & Morton.
