Oklahoma City Barons News Release

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Rocco Grimaldi tallied the game-winning goal in overtime as the San Antonio Rampage skated past Oklahoma City in the Barons' 2014-15 season-opener Saturday night at the AT&T Center.

With 3:40 remaining in the overtime period, Grimaldi received the puck from Drew Shore near the right circle and beat Oklahoma City goalie Richard Bachman with a wrist shot that was Grimaldi's first professional goal.

The Rampage's Brett Olson opened the game's scoring at the 8:12 mark of the first period when he took a centering pass from Blake Parlett and beat Bachman on the stick side for a 1-0 San Antonio lead.

Oklahoma City evened the game at 13:53 of the first while on the power play due to a penalty to San Antonio's Alex Petrovic at 13:11 for closing his hand on the puck. With the advantage, the Barons' Ryan Hamilton took a pass from Iiro Pakarinen near the high slot and fired a shot past San Antonio netminder Michael Houser. The assist was Pakarinen's first AHL point.

San Antonio took the lead once again at 8:56 of the second period when Vincent Trocheck corralled a pass from Parlett near the left circle and deposited a backhanded shot past Bachman, giving the Rampage a 2-1 advantage.

The Barons countered later in the second period as Pakarinen tallied his first AHL goal and second point of the game, tipping a Martin Marincin shot from near the blue line past Houser at 11:27.

Grimaldi's game-winning goal came after a scoreless third period.

Bachman stopped 27 of 30 shots for Oklahoma City, while Houser was 23 of 25 for the Rampage.

With Saturday's loss, the Barons extended their season-opening loss streak to five and have not won a season-opener in all five years of the franchise's existence.

The Barons' next game is Friday, Oct. 17, when they take on the defending Calder Cup champion Texas Stars at 7 p.m. in their home opener at the Cox Convention Center.
