September 4, 2009 - Southern League (SL1)
Birmingham Barons News Release
HOOVER, AL - The Birmingham Barons play in Chattanooga this week still in the mix for a second-half South Division Championship. The Barons currently trail the Jacksonville Suns by just two games in the standings with four games remaining in the schedule.
Should the Barons and the Suns finish the regular season in a tie for first place, the two teams would meet in a one game playoff on Tuesday, September 8 at Regions Park. The game would feature a 7:05 PM start time, but would not include a 25-cent hot dog promotion.
Tickets to this game would go on sale Tuesday, September 8 at 9 AM and would have the same pricing structure as all 2009 regular season tickets. Tickets to this game would be available either over the phone or at the Regions Park Box Office. Online orders must be made 24-hours in advance of the game, and thus will not be available for the potential one game playoff.
Even though the Barons have already clinched home field advantage throughout the Southern League Playoffs, the team could clinch an extended home field advantage in the Divisional Playoffs by adding a second-half South Division title.

Game One (at Regions Park): Thursday, September 10. 7:05 PM Game Two (at Regions Park): Friday, September 11. 7:05 PM. Game Three: Saturday, September 12. 7:05 PM. Game Four (at Regions Park; if necessary): Monday, September 14. 7:05 PM. Game Five (at Regions Park; if necessary): Tuesday, September 15. 7:05 PM.
Should the Suns win the second-half South Division title, the playoff schedule will run as followed:
Game One (at Regions Park): Thursday, September 10. 7:05 PM
Game Two (at Regions Park): Friday, September 11. 7:05 PM.
Game Three (at Jacksonville): Saturday, September 12. 7:05 PM.
Game Four (at Jacksonville; if necessary): Sunday, September 13. 6:05 PM.
Game Five (at Jacksonville; if necessary): Tuesday, September 14. 7:05 PM.
The Barons will open the playoffs on Thursday, September 10 against the Jacksonville Suns at Regions Park. Game two will be played Friday, September 11 at Regions Park. Tickets to both games are available online at the Baron's website, in-person at the Regions Park Box Office or over the phone. Should the Barons host the if-necessary games, then tickets for Games 4 and 5 will be made available if and when they become necessary.
