BIRMINGHAM, AL - Outfielder Courtney Hawkins posted a pair of RBIs but the Birmingham Barons dropped their sixth straight game with a 4-2 defeat in front of 6,570 fans at Regions Field.

On the mound, Barons starter and White Sox no. 1 prospect Carson Fulmer rebounded from a rough outing to throw six solid innings that featured eight strikeouts. He walked just two batters and allowed only two earned runs (three total) despite being tagged with the loss.

Hawkins, who started in left field tonight for the Barons, posted the first of his two RBIs on a first inning broken bat single that gave Birmingham an early 1-0 lead. He scored Joey DeMichele in the eighth to reach tonight's 4-2 final score for DeMichele's 37th run scored in 48 games this season.

Center fielder Adam Engel added a pair of hits for the third straight game, posting a 2-for-4 night that featured a double and a stolen base. The White Sox no. 4 prospect is now 6-for-14 with three runs and three doubles in three games this series. He has raised his batting average 41 points over his past seven games.

Southpaw Brian Clark tossed two innings of relief for the Barons, surrendering a rare earned run to raise his ERA to 0.96 while striking out two Lookouts hitters. Robinson Leyer rounded out the game for Birmingham, tossing a scoreless ninth inning that featured two strikeouts.

David Holmberg takes his turn in the rotation tomorrow, looking to improve his 2-4 record this season. In his lone start against Chattanooga this season, the veteran lefty lasted six innings and allowed just three earned runs on nine total hits.
