
Mobile Tops Pensacola in 7-3 Win Wednesday

Mobile, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie, en route to a 7-3 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Hank Aaron Stadium on Wednesday night. The BayBears bats backed another strong outing from Mobile starting RHP John Omahen who earned his fourth win in his last five starts at the BayBears evened the series at 1-1.
Mobile (23-29) trailed 1-3 entering the bottom of the third inning but BayBears left fielder, Mitch Haniger drew the score even at 3-3 with a two-run home run. The long-ball was Haniger's fifth of the season as he drove in his team-high 29th RBI.
Omahen (4-4) limited the Blue Wahoos to just three runs, only two of which were earned, allowing seven hits and striking out five in six full innings one the mound. The righty even drove in the BayBears first run of the game with a RBI single in the bottom of the second inning.
The score remained tied at three until Mobile broke out to a 6-3 advantage posting three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The inning opened up with three straight hits. Ronnie Freeman reached on a double, Cody Regis and Jamie Westbrook followed with singles. Westbrook's base knock drove in Freeman to put Mobile up 4-3. The fifth run came across on a RBI ground out by Evan Marzilli and the sixth run came in on a throwing error to first base. Marziili drove in the BayBears' seventh run with a RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning.
With the win, the BayBears now sit at eight games back of first place in the Southern League South Division with 18 games left to play in the first half of the season before the All-Star Break.

The BayBears and Blue Wahoos continue their series on Thursday night with first pitch set for 6:35 PM. Gates will open at 6:00 PM. The series last through Saturday, June 4th. Fans can purchase tickets for the current homestand at Hank Aaron Stadium or any of the BayBears remaining 43 home games.
