BARNSTORMERS TO HOST BIA CONSTRUCTION OLYMPICS
NEXT HOME WEEKEND FEATURES VARIETY OF PROMOTIONS
The Lancaster Barnstormers are looking to "build" upon a successful opening weekend at Clipper Magazine Stadium with a series of promotions on Building Associates of Lancaster's Construction Weekend, May 19-21 against the New Britain Bees.
While BIA of Lancaster will be on hand with a series of equipment displays and tables around the concourse on Friday night, that evening belongs to the veterans of the United States Armed Forces. The annual Salute to Veterans Night will celebrate those across the generations who have served our great nation in everything from World War II to the latest fights in Iraq and Afghanistan. The program, complete with military music and the mastery of retired WGAL news anchor Dick Hoxworth, is designed to honor our vets and the nation in which we live. Following the game, there will be a grand fireworks display.
The following evening is the Construction Olympics Night with the pros from BIA taking on students from Lancaster County Career and Technology Center in a nailing competition. LCCTC will be bringing out a fully built "tiny home" for display. Again, there will be educational displays throughout the stadium. Fireworks will follow the game and, earlier that day, AAA Central Penn will be holding its bike rodeo at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
Overnight Saturday into Sunday Relay for Life will hold their first event here at Clipper Magazine Stadium from 10 pm until 10 am. This day has been marked as " Crusin ' for Construction". Teams throughout the Lancaster community will raise funds for the fight against cancer and one lucky participant will win a Cruise from Bon Voyage on Sunday. The Relay for Life is encouraging all fans to show their support for this worthy event.
Before the series concludes with a day game on Sunday, we will host Books and Baseball with a construction theme. Berks' Hot Dogs will present Dollar Dog Day at the stadium. Speaking of dogs, all are welcome to bring their owners as every Sunday has been declared Bark in the Park Day at Clipper Magazine Stadium. There will be pre-game catch on the field and autographs. Afterward, kids will get to run the bases.
"This will be a great weekend to showcase and celebrate the building industry here at Clipper Magazine Stadium," said Community Partnerships Representative, John Erisman . "We're expecting thousands of fans to come out not just to cheer on the Barnstormers to victory, but to check out all the cool Equipment Displays and be educated on the importance of construction throughout Lancaster County."
