Lancaster Stormers News Release
The Lancaster Barnstormers have signed left-handed pitcher Luke Westphal to a contract, it was announced today by manager Ross Peeples.
Westphal, 29, will join the Barnstormers bullpen corps.
The native of Clintonville, WI has been with York since the beginning of 2017. Over those two seasons, he worked 73 innings in as many appearances, going 3-9 with a 3.33 ERA. He allowed 65 hits and 29 total walks while striking out 103 batters.
Westphal began his professional career with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League. After two seasons there, he signed with the Minnesota Twins and got to Class AA Chattanooga. He went 9-8 with a 3.42 ERA in the Twins farm system.
"Luke is a lefty that will give hitters a tough at bat," said manager Ross Peeples. "We will look for him to be valuable in both late inning or matchup situations."
