Iowa Barnstormers News Release
DES MOINES - Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Mike Hohensee continued to add to the team's 2012 roster Tuesday morning when he announced that DB Antoine Thompson has agreed to terms with Iowa for the 2012 AFL season. Thompson joins the Barnstormers after spending much of the 2010 NFL season on the St. Louis Rams practice squad.
Thompson (5-11, 195) signed with the Rams in May of 2010 as an undrafted free agent out of Nevada-Reno. In two seasons with the Wolf Pack he recorded 58 tackles, 11 pass break-ups and 1 interception. He was a two year starter at Reedley (CA) College before transferring to Nevada-Reno. He was an all-conference selection in 2007 with 50 tackles and 6 interceptions. Thompson was a first team all state player in high school, where he starred in both football and track.
"Antoine is a playmaker who will provide us depth at Defensive back. He is physical and is built for the Arena game. I'm looking forward to working with him on the field this spring", stated Hohensee.
A native of Houston, Norfolk, VA will be among a group of 35 players that report to the Barnstormers training camp this February to compete for a spot with the club. He is officially the 20th player under contract with the Barnstormers for the 2012 season. 2012 Iowa Barnstormers season tickets remain on sale for as low as $117.00 per seat. Holiday Packages are also now on sale for the sports fanatic on your wish list. Call 515-633-2255 or visit www.theiowabarnstormers.com for more information.
