Barnstormers Sign Chance Defensive Back
December 19, 2021 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Iowa Barnstormers News Release
DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have signed defensive back John Jacobs to the 2022 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.
Jacobs (6-3, 190) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). An Ohio native, Jacobs committed to the University of Akron for football when during his freshman season a family loss caused him to leave his collegiate career behind. Jacobs continued to chase his dream, attending open combines and gaining the attention of coaches including Barnstormers Defensive Coordinator Jermaine Hampton. At an open workout last spring, Jacobs shined amongst 100 athletes, running a 4.45 40-yard dash. His performance left a lasting impression and earned him a spot on the 2022 Iowa Barnstormers training camp roster.
"John is an elite athlete who has had some bumps on his football path," said Head Coach Mogensen. "He is a true diamond in the rough prospect. If he can catch on to the indoor game, he will turn some heads and be a problem opposing offenses need to deal with."
Jacobs will join the Iowa Barnstormers 2022 Training Camp in the spring.
Season Tickets for the 2022 Iowa Barnstormers season are available now for as low as $96. For more information, call the Barnstormers front office at 515-633-2255 or visit www.theiowabarnstormers.com.
