Barnstormers Showcase 2008 Game Uniforms

DES MOINES - Keeping one of the most unique and recognizable helmets in professional sports, team officials today announced the 2008 Iowa Barnstormers will return to the field wearing the iconic "goggle style" helmets made popular by the arena football club's initial run in the 1990s.
Barnstormers President Jeff Lamberti also noted that the Barnstormers game jerseys have been modernized, but were done so in a manner consistent with Barnstormers tradition, as the original "wings" feature on the upper chest of the jersey has been updated on both the home and road uniforms.
"This gives our athletes a big league look that both retains the spirit of the original Barnstormers wings and does so in first-class style," said Lamberti.
The Barnstormers home jersey is solid black with gold numbers and gold lettering with red trim around the collar and sleeves. The jersey "wings" feature is present in the gold along the upper arm and sleeve.
The Barnstormers road jersey is white with black numbers and black lettering with red trim around the collar and sleeves. On the road jersey, the "wings" feature is present in gold along the entire length of the shoulders.
Barnstormers officials said replica player jerseys will soon be made available for sale as a special offer to season ticket holders and will be available to the general public at a yet-to-be-determined date.
The Iowa Barnstormers open the 2008 season on the road Saturday, March 29 in Louisville, and the team's home opener is Monday, April 14 against visiting Lexington. Season tickets start as low as $80 and can be ordered at www.theiowabarnstormers.com or (515) 633-BALL.
