Lancaster Stormers News Release

The Lancaster Barnstormers game against the Road Warriors on Saturday afternoon was rained out after two innings with the Barnstormers leading, 6-0.

It will be made up, in its entirety, at a date and time to be determined. The Road Warriors make two more visits to Clipper Magazine Stadium during the 2011 season.

Lancaster had scored four runs in the bottom of the first. Lefty Miguel Martinez walked back-to-back hitters with one out. Fernando Seguignol singled through the left side to drive in Yaibel Tamayo with the first run. Travis Metcalf doubled home another. A third run scored when Martinez bounced a throw to first base on Aaron Herr's dribbler. Lancaster built a 4-0 edge on Brandon Jones' single.

Tommy Everidge doubled home a run with a drive into the right field corner in the second. Lancaster's lead was built to 6-0 on Herr's bases loaded sacrifice fly.

John Halama had retired six of the seven batters that he faced.

A heavier rain band from Huuricane Irene arrived while Halama was warming up for the third inning. Umpire crew chief Marty Bauer waited the required 30 minutes before calling the game.

Lancaster's scheduled game against Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon has already been postponed due to the forecast of high winds and heavy rainfall. The Barnstormers will head up to Connecticut early Monday for a doubleheader beginning at 6:05. Lancaster is scheduled to start right-handers Matt Wright (5-9) and Cesar Carrillo (4-10) against left-hander Paul Oseguera and right-hander Raymar Diaz.
