LANCASTER, Pa.-A key piece of the Lancaster Barnstormers' league championship puzzle in 2006 will be back for another year at Clipper Magazine Stadium. First baseman Jeremy Todd has agreed to terms with the Barnstormers for the 2007 season, Barnstormers director of baseball operations Adam Gladstone announced today.

Todd was unanimously voted the Most Valuable Player of the 2006 Atlantic League playoffs after a record-setting offensive performance. In the Barnstormers five playoff games, he hit .478 with a slugging percentage over 1.000 (1.310). He set league playoff records with 11 runs scored and 12 RBIs and tied a league record with four home runs. He finished the season on a 22-game hitting streak.

Todd, 29, has played in the Atlantic League since 2004, but came into his own in two seasons with Lancaster. He was named to the league's post-season All-Star team after a breakout season in 2005, when he hit .298 and led the league in doubles (39) and was among the league leaders in RBIs (107), slugging percentage (.546) and home runs (26).

"Lancaster's been a great place for me and I'm glad to be back for the 2007 season," Todd said. "I'm looking forward to defending our championship and giving our great fans even more to cheer about this coming year."

Todd was originally signed by the New York Mets in 2000 and spent time in the Colorado Rockies, Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations. He hit .335 with two home runs and 12 RBIs in 2006 spring training with the Dodgers and .480 with five home runs and 24 RBIs in extended spring training before he was released on June 15.

"Jeremy solidifies our lineup," Barnstormers manager Frank Klebe said. "He's going to drive in runs for us, he has good power that fits well in our ballpark and he's a leader in the clubhouse. Plus, he's versatile in the field."

Opening night for the defending Atlantic League champion Barnstormers will be May 4, 2007 when they take on the Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. Only season ticket holders can currently guarantee seats for Opening Day and the 2007 Atlantic League All-Star Game, to be held July 11 at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Single game tickets will go on sale during the Barnstormers' FanFest, scheduled for Saturday, April 14.
