August 22, 2018 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Lancaster Stormers News Release
In a game where a wild 20-batter third inning produced 11 runs between the two ballclubs, the Lancaster Barnstormers prevailed for an 8-7 victory over the York Revolution in the opener of a doubleheader at People's Bank Park.
Josh Bell had given Lancaster a quick lead with a two-run homer in the top of the first inning, and the Barnstormers extended the lead with a five-run third. Trayvon Robinson singled to the hole at shortstop with the bases loaded, and a second run scored on Ryan Dent's wild throw to third. K.C. Hobson made it 5-0 with a sacrifice fly. Vladimir Frias doubled home Lancaster's sixth run off Logan Williamson (5-4), took third on a single by Tyler Bortnick and scored when left fielder Welington Dotel bobbled the Bortnick single.
Brooks Hall only managed one out in the bottom of the inning. York reached him for five ground ball singles and two walks, putting four runs on the board before Stephen Johnson entered in relief. A wild pitch brought home York's fifth run, and Ryan Dent lofted a sacrifice fly to left to cut Lancaster's lead to one.
Ryan Casteel tacked on an RBI single in the top of the fourth to rebuild the lead to two.
Again, York marched back. The Revs loaded the bases against Johnson with one out, and Telvin Nash picked up a run with a sacrifice fly to right. Kevin Munson (7-3) took over and struck out Dotel to end the inning.
Munson, Kaleb Fleck and Matt Reynolds put York away from there, retiring nine of 10 batters over the final three innings. Reynolds notched his 23rd save.
Jonathan Albaladejo (7-6) will start the second game against Joe Van Meter (2-3).
