Barnstormers name Shawn Gelnett assistant general manager

The Lancaster Barnstormers have named Shawn Gelnett as the club's new assistant general manager, it was recently announced. Gelnett will be responsible for overseeing the club's ticket and group sales efforts, along with assisting General Manager Joe Pinto with the overall business operations of the club.

Gelnett joined the Barnstormers in November, 2004 as a group events manager and was the team's top-grossing ticket and group events sales individual last season. Before joining the Barnstormers, Gelnett owned a computer staffing company for five years in Lancaster, where he has lived since 1987.

"We always look to move people up from within and Shawn is well deserving of this promotion," said Pinto. "Since joining the organization, Shawn's energy, enthusiasm and hard work have been a big reason for our success and he will be able to help lead us to an even higher level in his new and expanded role."

A 1987 graduate of Bloomsburg University with a degree in accounting, Gelnett worked for the public accounting firm, Kuntz, Lesher, Siegrist, & Martini for three years after moving to Lancaster. In 1990, he was hired by a commercial/residential real estate firm, Boyd/Wilson Company, as their controller, where he remained for four years. In 1994, he joined a computer staffing company, Wolf Advisory International, as their Controller, and remained there until 1999, when he formed his own business, REIGEL Staffing.

"I am excited for the opportunity and to the challenges that lie ahead for both myself and the organization." Gelnett said. "We want to build on a hugely successful first season and use that as a stepping-stone for even bigger and better things. I am looking forward to the season and being part of our continued growth."

A native of Watsontown, PA, Gelnett currently lives in Lancaster County with his wife of 18 years, Deb.
