Barnstormers Name New Head Coach

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have named Dixie Wooten as their new Head Coach, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer John Pettit announced today. Wooten joins the organization effective immediately and will oversee all coaching duties.

Wooten brings a wealth of knowledge to the Barnstormers organization, having over a dozen years of combined playing and coaching experience in indoor football. Before joining the Barnstormers organization, Wooten had a successful season as Offensive Coordinator for the Cedar Rapids Titans.

Wooten began his career in indoor football as a quarterback playing for teams such as the River City Raiders (PIFL), Wichita Wild (IFL), and the Nebraska Danger (IFL). Wooten earned his first position as Head Coach in 2012 for the Allen Wranglers (IFL). Wooten also spent time as Head Coach for the now defunct Bemidji Axemen in 2015.

"Coming to the Barnstormers is a dream job for me," said Wooten. "The ownership and front office is going to allow me to be the best Head Coach I can be. I look forward to bringing back the tradition that the Barnstormers have built over the years."

The Barnstormers look forward to having Coach Wooten on board for the 2017 season. Announcements about additional coaching staff will be coming shortly.
