DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have named Jermaine Hampton as their Defensive Coordinator, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.

Hampton joins the Iowa Barnstormers organization with experience as both a coach and a player. After a successful collegiate career at Northern Illinois University as a two-time all-conference defensive back and Jim Thorpe Award Finalist, Hampton signed with the Indianapolis Colts. Hampton spent three seasons with the Colts, making his mark as the leading special teams tackler in 2001.

Following his stint in the NFL Hampton continued to pursue his football dreams, turning to the indoor game. Hampton spent time with the Rock River Raptors and Chicago Slaughter of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) and the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League (AFL).

"I'm extremely excited and grateful for this opportunity, my one and only goal is to help bring a championship back to Des Moines, Iowa in 2022," said Coach Hampton. "I look forward to helping the young men on the Barnstormers reach the levels of success I did on the playing field."

The Iowa Barnstormers are excited to welcome Coach Hampton to the organization and continue to build a championship team.

"I am very happy to get someone of Jermaine's caliber for our defensive coordinator position," said Head Coach Mogensen. "He is a man of high character who has reached the top level of football as a player and is on an ascending path as a coach. He will bring tremendous knowledge to our organization."

Season Tickets for the Iowa Barnstormers 2022 season are on sale now starting as low as $96 per seat. For more information, call the Barnstormers front office at (515) 633-2255 or visit www.theiowabarnstormers.com.
