Barnstormers Fall to Crush at Home

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers (4-6) lost at home 93-56 tonight against the Colorado Crush (2-8).
Iowa opened the game in spectacular fashion as Johnny Thomas returned the opening kickoff 43 yards for a Barnstormers touchdown. Barnstormers kicker Jimmy Allen dropkicked the extra point to make the score 8-0. Colorado responded with three scoring drives, 20-8. The Barnstormers cut the deficit to 20-14 late in the first quarter as Thomas scored for the second time as he capped off a 48-yard drive with a three-yard run.
The second quarter allowed Colorado to regain its two-touchdown advantage, 27-14. Carnes completed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Lemans Casimier, 27-21. Again, the Iowa defense was unable to stop the Colorado offense and Fleming rushed into the end zone giving Colorado a 34-21 lead. Hefty scored his fifth rushing touchdown of the season on an eight-yard scamper, 34-28. Colorado extended its lead to 41-28 as Fleming scored from a yard out for the third time. Iowa responded with a 30-yard scoring pass from Carnes to Casimier, 41-34. Colorado took a 44-34 lead into the intermission on a 41-yard field goal by Spencer Groner as time expired in the first half.
In the third quarter, Colorado outscored the Barnstormers 28-6 to take a 72-40 lead into the fourth quarter. The only Iowa score in the third quarter came on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Carnes to Brady Roland.
The fourth quarter began with back to back touchdowns from Colorado. Iowa's final scoring came on a five-yard pass Porterie to Roland and a rouge. In the final score, the Barnstormers fell to the Crush, 93-56.
