
Barnstormers Fall to Blizzard

Iowa Barnstormers News Release
The Iowa Barnstormers (5-4) fell to the Green Bay Blizzard (4-6) on Friday night, 30-27.
The Barnstormers started with possession of the ball. They couldn't reach the endzone but were able to get 3 points on the board with a Gabriel Rui field goal. The Blizzard answered back quickly with a rushing touchdown from quarterback Jack Sheehan. Once again, the Barnstormers took over, but settled for another field goal. The score was 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The start of the second quarter resulted in a touchdown pass from Sheehan to WR Shaquan Curenton. The Barnstormers had a chance to score a touchdown on fourth down but failed to reach the endzone. Luckily for them, though, JR Stevens intercepted Sheehan on the next defensive possession. After a long, uneventful quarter, Barnstormers WR Antonio Wimbush caught a touchdown to make the score 14-13 in favor of the Blizzard at the end of the half.
Nick Jarworski was able to put 3 points on the board for the Blizzard to start the third quarter. The Barnstormers took overlooking for the lead but came up with an empty possession after various defensive penalties. Wimbush was able to tie the game at 20 going into the fourth quarter with his second touchdown reception of the night.
Jarworski scored another field goal to start the fourth quarter, but WR Dom McNeil was able to give the Barnstormers the lead with a rushing touchdown. Green Bay struck back with a touchdown, which gave them the lead with a minute left in the game. Looking to gain the lead back, Petersen threw an interception in the endzone. After a hard-fought, low-scoring game, the Blizzard prevailed 30-27.
The Barnstormers will play the Blizzard again next weekend at Wells Fargo Arena. Kickoff is set for 7:05 P.M.
