
Barnstormers Fall at Home in Season Finale

DES MOINES, IA- The Iowa Barnstormers (4-12) fell to the Cedar Rapids Titans (12-4), 48-41 Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
A competitive first half began with a Cedar Rapids touchdown at the 9:20 mark as running back Venric Mark rushed in from one yard out, 7-0. The Barnstormers quickly responded with a score of their own as running back Robbie Rouse to a Travis Partridge pass nine yards in for the score, 7-7. Cedar Rapids closed out the first half as Mark scampered his way into the end zone for the second time, 14-7.
With just 90 gone in the second quarter the Barnstormers tied the game on a 35-yard bomb from quarterback Travis Partridge to receiver Marquise Cushon, 14-14. The Titans regained the lead via a 24-yard field goal from kicker Nicholas Belcher, 17-14. The Titans capitalized on a costly turnover by the Barnstormers when running back Mark punched it into the end zone from one yard out, 23-14. The Barnstormers pulled within two points when Partridge found receiver Brady Roland in the back of the end zone from four yards out, 23-21. The Titans score the final points of the half when Belcher nailed his second field goal of the game this time from 36 yards out, 26-21.
After receiving to open the second half the Titans were able to extend the lead as kicker Nicholas Belcher hit his third field goal of the game, 29-21. The Barnstormers were able to march down the field, but had their field goal attempt blocked by the Titans' defense. After the blocked kick Titan running back Mark rushed in for his fourth score of the game, 36-21. The Barnstormers put up their first points of the half when receiver Lucas Hefty rushed in from two yards out, 36-28.
The Titans put up 9 points to open the fourth quarter, when defensive lineman Jeremiah Price sacked Travis Partridge in the end zone for a safety, 38-28. After receiving the safety kick Titans running back Mark scored his fifth touchdown of the night, 45-28. The Barnstormers offense sprang to life with under a minute remaining in the game as Rouse drove his was into the end zone on the ground, 45-34. The Final Titans score came with just 20 seconds remaining in the game with Belcher's fourth field goal of the game, 48-24. The Barnstormers weren't going away quietly as Rouse punched in his second score of the game with just three seconds remaining, 48-41. The subsequent onside kick was recovered by the Titans to close out the game, 48-41.
