Lancaster Stormers News Release
LANCASTER, Pa.-Fans will have plenty to ooh and aah at when the Barnstormers open the 2010 season with a BANG! Opening Weekend at Clipper Magazine Stadium will feature the first post-game fireworks spectacular of the season on Friday, April 30 when the team takes on cross-river rival York Revolution. This is just the first of the 18 post-game fireworks displays that will light up the night sky in 2010.
The fireworks schedule features a mix of eight Friday games and nine Saturday games as well as a special Sunday night fireworks show on September 5 in celebration of Labor Day. The fun continues even when the fireworks are over because fans are invited onto the field for a post-game party following every fireworks show!
The Barnstormers have also announced the game times for 2010 and have made a game time change at the request of their fans. In an effort to best accommodate fans and families, all Monday through Thursday games, during the months when school is in session, will be moved one-half hour earlier to 6:30 p.m. All Friday games will continue to start at 7 p.m., and Saturday games will continue to begin at 6:30 p.m. Most Sunday games will again begin at 1:30 p.m. except during the months of July and August when they will begin at 6 p.m.
For the first time in Atlantic League history, the 2010 season features two originally scheduled day-night double headers where teams will face off in two separate games, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. The first scheduled day-night double header will be played on Wednesday, May 19 as the Barnstormers take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Game One will feature the Barnstormers' annual Baseball in Education Program and will begin at 11:00 a.m. Game Two will begin at 6:30 p.m. The second scheduled day-night double header is Sunday, June 20 against the York Revolution. The first pitch of Game One will be thrown at 12:00 p.m., and Game Two will begin at 6:00 p.m.
New for 2010, the team is planning weekly pre-game activities in addition to its theme nights. The first of two weekly promotions fans should make plans for is Quizzo. Fans can form teams and take on each other in this multi-round trivia game in the Wheatland Suite on Tuesdays. Fans can also start their weekend early with a pre-game Happy Hour with live music and food and drink specials every Thursday.
