Barnstormers Add Two More to Roster

DES MOINES - Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach and Director of Football Operations John Gregory announced this morning that the Arena Football league franchise has reached agreement with Center Garrett Anderson and Safety Jarvis Johnson.

Anderson (6-4, 307) joins the Barnstormers following a four year collegiate career at the University of South Carolina. He appeared in 48 games for the Gamecocks from 2006-09, making 28 career starts at both Center and Guard. His best season came as a junior In 2008 when he started all 13 games at Center. In 2009 prior to his senior season, he was named as a pre-season finalist for the Rimington Award, given annually to the nation's top Center. This past spring he attended the Green Bay Packers rookie camp

Johnson, (6-0, 205) spent 4 years at Rutgers where he led the team in tackles twice (2003, '04). As a senior in 2004, he was unanimously named team MVP by his peers and was elected to the all ECAC team for the Big East Conference. Johnson spent time with the NFL's Baltimore Ravens during their 2006 training camp, where he recorded 27 tackles and intercepted two passes, returning one 78 yards for a touchdown. After being unexpectedly released, Johnson signed with the Albany Firebirds of the af2, where he spent the 2007 season.

Anderson and Johnson will be among a group of 35 players that report to the Barnstormers training camp this February to compete for a spot with the club. The 2011 Arena Football League season kicks off in March, with the schedule to be announced in the coming weeks.
