Barnstormers Add Quarterback

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have signed quarterback Zach Reader to the 2023 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.

Reader (6-0, 195, Upper Iowa) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie Indoor Football League (IFL) season. Collegiately, Reader spent three seasons at Upper Iowa University. After redshirting his freshman year, Reader spent two seasons with the Peacocks where he appeared in 15 games passing 270 times for 121 receptions and 12 touchdowns and rushing 54 times for 103 yards and one touchdown.

"With Darius set to return, we cast a wide net for the role of backup QB," said Head Coach Mogensen. "After reviewing a ton of film, scouting guys live, and working guys out we kept coming back to Zach who was right here in our backyard at Upper Iowa. He made a lot of things happen at Upper Iowa in his time there, showing on film a lot of great natural ability as a passer as well as the athletic ability needed to be a successful QB in the IFL. I have a lot of confidence that Zach will grow immensely during his first season and will be able to steer the ship if necessary."

Reader will enter the Barnstormers 2023 Training Camp in the Spring.
