Barber Poles Bounce Back in a Big Way with 9-1 Win over North Bay

OTTAWA - After seeing their ten game win streak come to an end on Saturday night in Peterborough, losing for the first time since January 11th, the Ottawa 67's bounced back in a big way Sunday afternoon, as they scored a total of 9 goals, defeating the North Bay Battalion by a score of 9-1. Jack Quinn had a six point night, including a goal, while Austen Keating had two goals for Ottawa. Alec Belanger, Kevin Bahl, Joe Garreffa, Teddy Sawyer, Noel Hoefenmayer and Mitch Hoelscher also found the back of the net for Ottawa, who were hungry for a win in front of their own fans.

Austen Keating struck early for the Barber Poles, opening the game's scoring only 2:51 into the first. Alec Belanger made it 2-0 ten minutes later by jamming in a rebound past the goaltender with his second goal in as many games, one that would start an avalanche of four goals in under three minutes. 59 seconds following Belanger's goal, Jack Quinn added one of his own on the power play, his 44th of the season, before Kevin Bahl made it 4-0 only twelve seconds later, with a shot from the point that had eyes. Joseph Garreffa would score the period's final goal, assisted by Jack Quinn as well, giving the Cobden native a goal and three assists during the opening twenty minutes of play.

The Barber Poles went on to add to their lead with a total of four goals in the second period, the first one coming from the stick of rookie Teddy Sawyer, followed by a Noel Hoefenmayer blast on the power play (his 22nd goal this year), making it 7-0 not even halfway through the game. Austen Keating then made it 8-0, before Mitch Hoelscher was set up for a shorthanded beauty by Jack Quinn, who ended the second period with a goal and five assists to his tally.

North Bay went on to score the third period's only goal, as Brandon Coe beat Will Cranley only 58 seconds in, depriving him from his fourth shutout of the season. The third period flew by quietly with no more goals scored, making it a final score of 9-1 for the Barber Poles' 41st win of the season.

"It's not about the final score, it's about the way we played. I really liked the approach of our guys, we played within our identity and our trademark by being relentless and by playing really hard. We didn't play for the score, we stayed in the moment and worked on our game."

"In the first, we had some good bounces, three of them on the man advantage. It was nice to get a couple on the power play, it was really clicking today. Like I said, the team played well and we were all over them for parts of the game, so when that goes with the bounces going your way, you just kind of get lucky that way."

With his six point performance on Sunday, Jack Quinn now has 75 points (44G, 31A) in 49 games.

Marco Rossi also added to his league leading tally with three assists. He now has 94 points (30G, 64A) in 43 games.

The 67's power play was clicking in this one, going 4 for 5.

The Barber Poles heavily outshot the Battalion 40-17.

The 67's had possession of the puck for most of the game, which can be explained by their 41 faceoffs won against 25.
