TOWSON, Md. - The Baltimore Blast jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead on Saturday night when it hosted the Harrisburg Heat.
A big second and third quarter from Harrisburg kept the Heat in contention, but two early fourth-quarter goals put the game out of reach.
Baltimore won, 7-5, in front of 2,167 fans at TU Arena.
It didn't take long for Baltimore to get on the board. Jereme Raley netted an unassisted goal less than two minutes into the game.
A couple of minutes later, Victor Parreiras picked up an unassisted goal. Raley scored again off an assist from Oumar Sylla to give Baltimore a 3-0 lead at the official's timeout. Baltimore ended the first quarter with a 3-0 lead.
Harrisburg got on the board in the second quarter. Roshawn Panton scored on the assist from Josiah Ramirez for the team's first goal. Alejandro Arbelaez cut it to a one-goal game after scoring a goal after his initial shot was deflected.
Baltimore took a 3-2 lead into the break.
Harrisburg's run continued into the second half. Ty Hall scored on an assist from Dominic Francis. Harrisburg tied the game just over a minute into the third quarter.
But the run ended there after Dom Alvarado scored a goal for the Blast. Jamie Thomas picked up the assist for the goal which gave Baltimore a 4-3 lead. Moments later, Blast leading goal scorer Tony Donatelli extended the lead to 5-3.
The Heat refused to go away. With less than five minutes remaining in the third quarter, Harrisburg scored to cut its deficit to one. Dominic Francis scored with Robert Williamson picking up the assist. Baltimore took a 5-4 lead into the fourth quarter.
Donatelli sent a ball across the box and it found Moises Gonzalez for a Blast goal less than 30 seconds into the fourth quarter. Just over a minute later, Parreiras sent it across the box again and found Alvarado for his second goal of the night. Baltimore took a 7-4 lead at the 13:25 mark, prompting a Harrisburg timeout.
