Balanced Effort Leads to Blue Road Win

HIDALGO, Texas - Three Oklahoma City Blue players recorded double-doubles as the Blue used a balanced effort to defeat the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 120-112, on Tuesday at State Farm Arena.

Talib Zanna (19 points, 13 rebounds), Tomislav Zubcic (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Kameron Woods (11 points, 10 rebounds) all produced double-figure scoring and rebounding. Oklahoma City shot 50 percent from the field as seven Blue players scored in double figures.

Dwight Buycks led the Blue with 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting to go with four boards and four assists. Marquis Teague totaled 14 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals. JP Tokoto scored 14 points and Boubacar Moungoro added 11.

Oklahoma City shot 5-of-9 from behind the arc in the opening quarter and closed the frame with a 9-2 run to go ahead 35-22. The Vipers cut into the lead by outscoring the Blue 36-30 in the second quarter thanks to an 11-4 burst at the end of the half.

The Vipers continued their run early in the third quarter, taking a short 79-77 lead before the Blue outscored RGV 15-2 over the next five and a half minutes. Oklahoma City held its advantage in the fourth quarter to claim the win.

Oklahoma City (15-25) outrebounded the Vipers 50-36 while forcing 21 turnovers.

Rio Grande Valley (21-19) was led by Jaron Johnson with 27 points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

The Blue returns to Oklahoma City where it will host its annual Field Trip Day at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Thursday. The 11 a.m. contest against the Reno Bighorns will be played in front of thousands of kids from schools throughout Oklahoma. The game will air live on OklahomaCityBlue.com.
