Legends Acquire Josh Childress

FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends announced today that they have acquired forward Josh Childress off of waivers.

Childress (6-8, 210, Stanford) played two years at Stanford averaging 14.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.5 blocks in 56 games. His performance earned him AP All-American First Team and Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2004. The eight-year NBA veteran was drafted sixth overall in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks. In 391 career NBA games, Childress has averaged 9.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. As a rookie, he played 80 games for the Hawks and maintained 10.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists earning All-Rookie Second Team honors. Childress has spent the past two seasons in the Australian National Basketball League and has averaged 21.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.7 blocks in 13 games with Sydney this year.
